How To Tap Into A Keyword Goldmine

keyword statisticsIf you want to know the perfect keywords to capitalize on for your SEO and you’ve already got a modest to decent amount of traffic, the secret is in your stats.  Your stats reveal two important things:

1. How people are finding you

2. What people are looking for

If your site has a decent level of writing and keyword integration, you should be getting some targeted traffic already. The keywords that people have used to land on your site should definitely be helping you to decide what kinds of keywords to capitalize on in order to get more traffic.  They tell you about long tail words and laterally related words in your niche.

Vital Info: Are You Delivering Answers?

There’s another important SEO tip here: do the keywords that people use to find you actually give them what they want when they land on your site? If people land on your site asking a question and your site doesn’t give them the precise answer, they won’t stay long so look at those keywords and make sure you’re meeting the needs of your traffic sources.

copywriting tipsYou’ve got about 2.5 seconds to grab the attention of your readers. Can you do it? Here are some helpful tips when writing sales letters, blog posts and articles. All your content should speak to search engines and to the people reading the content as well. Here are some tips to help you get more traffic and make more sales.

Break Up Your Web Copy With Headings

Instead of one long and continuous block of text that may be lost on an impatient visitor, break things up so the article is scanable. This way, people are likely to see something that catches their eye before they have cybertsurfing attention deficit disorder and simply surf off your page because it doesn’t catch their interest quickly enough. Headings also appeal to search engines, especially if you use h1, h2 and h3 tags with relevant keywords in them. Never sacrifice quality content in favour of search engine optimisation, though.

Why?

No matter how many hits you get a day, if your copy sucks people won’t stay.

State ROI Up Front

What return will people make on their investment? Whether it’s a time investment made (such as taking the time to read the article) or a monetary one (such as clicking a buy now button), people need to know why they should spend any time reading what you have to say. You want to grab someone’s attention with a title and then tell them straight away what they’ll gain from staying tuned in.  Your first paragraph has to make the reader sure they’ll miss out if they don’t continue to read.

Are You Asking Questions?

Why ask questions?  Piquing curiosity is huge.  If you ask an interesting question that’s relevant to your target audience, people will read on to find the answer.

Relevancy

Keywords tell search engines that you are relevant to the topic at hand. People also need to see headings and words that help them understand they’ve arrived some place that will give them useful and / or valuable information.  After you’ve written something such as a blog, an article or a sales page, consider going through and tweaking it after you’ve written it by following these tips and you just might see a jump in conversion rates.

SEO Strategies: Should You Resort To Trickery?

seo tricksThe search engines can seem flaky at times and it can get frustrating when you’re trying to rank but having trouble.  It can be tempting to resort to black hat seo tactics. Rest assured, if you do things the right way, you’ll be much better off in the long run.

Tricking SE’s

Doing things like spamming and putting up invisible text might fool a search engine temporarily but won’t last for long. Soon, you’ll get banned and it won’t have an easy time getting off the black list. Instead, do your best to do your on page SEO and off page SEO consistently and honestly and you’ll eventually reap the results.

Tricking Visitors

Should you resort to trickery with your customers?  Never!  If you optimise for words that really are irrelevant on your site, they won’t stay; they’ll just click elsewhere. Just like the search engines will eventually figure you out, so will they.  Bad press travels way faster than good press so it’s wise to be honest and up front and do business with integrity at all times.  Become a trusted adviser to your customers and they’ll believe in you.

This might all seem really obvious but in a world where not everyone online is being up front and honest, it doesn’t hurt to have some affirmations on a regular basis about honesty and integrity. By being trustworthy and honest, people will buy what you sell and believe what you say and they’ll say nice things about you online which will will get you noticed and bring you more sales.
